Confined water refers to either a swimming pool or confined open water. Confined open water is an open water site that offers swimming pool-like conditions with respect to clarity, calmness and depth. It has both shallow water and water sufficiently deep to allow student divers to meet all skill performance requirements.
During your confined water session, you will be practicing many scuba diving skills in a very relaxed environment. This means that if you don't like it, or if you’re nervous, or maybe you have a little panic, it is very easy to catch your breath and try again. In most cases you can even stand up. This gives you a great environment to get used to breathing underwater and to grow your confidence for the open water dives.
